AUSTRALIAN PAINTINGS 2018
In 2019, Eric Mangen travelled to Australia twice. First he rented a studio in Melbourne and later that year, in Sydney. The paint used in Australia has a higher light resistance and the color saturation is more intense. Eric was impressed by the new type of colors and sunlight he was encountering. On his daily way to work he photographed specific color combinations. Later in the studio, he was mixing these colors accordingly to what he has been inspired by. The Australian paintings series also mark the first time Eric uses oil paint sticks in his paintings.
